The Evolving Series has grown into a festival. The Music, Dance, Poetry and Art we make is important. It keeps us inspired and hopeful. It is our response to what is happening in the world. Evolving is great art in the context of social and spiritual responsibility. It is a shared experience and celebration of living art.
This is marks the Second year of the Artist Campaign. It is humbling to see the community of artists coming together to support each others visions.

Genre: Iranian 60’s pop music 

Mitra Sumara is New York City’s only Farsi Funk group. This international party band gets down with the vibrant pop and funk music of 60s/70s Iran, an infectious pre-Revolutionary sound which combined the beats of Fela Kuti, salsa, and disco with Middle Eastern melodies and flowery poetry.
Interpreting hits by Iran’s beloved singers Googoosh, Pooran, Aghassi, Leila Forouhar, Nooshafarin, and Zia Atabi’s intoxicating Bandari beat tunes, Mitra Sumara’s repertoire also includes American hits of the era translated into Farsi. East meets West meets East while delighted audiences sing along.

This past fall: the super coda & naked roots conducive hosted the first edition of the Brooklyn experimental song carnival, featuring over 20 artists performing within & against the space between sound and narrative. there was catharsis. there was shock. there was gut-splitting beauty & probably grace.

December 15th : we continue the search for new organs, catharsis, some god-forsaken nexus, the proverbial ghost-in-the-machine. you know, songs & shit.

The purpose of this meeting is to let musicians know that they have a “home” in NY. Make them understand that that there’s an organization which is run by their own peers who care for them and understand their needs. And it’s about “US” as a business league which is represented by the MFM.
