IndieGoGo Fundraiser Campaign: Music in Common (MiC)…Building Bridges, Building Peace

Music In Common (MIC)Throughout the past decade, Music in Common (MiC) has served thousands of people in more than 200 communities across the globe, deepening understanding between people of diverse faiths and cultures in underserved regions and communities in conflict.  Our focus on youth equips future generations with the skills they need to work and live together in partnership, even in the face of long and difficult odds.

MiC’s impactful programs unite Jews, Muslims, and Christians; Israelis, Palestinians, Americans, and others face to face with collaborative music and multimedia projects.  Through this experience participants discover their commonalities while recognizing their differences as something to embrace rather than something to fear.

Your support of our IndieGoGo campaign will keep these much needed programs in the U.S. and the Middle East alive and growing.

Composer and avante garde jazz musician Fred Ho fought for his art, fought for justice, and fought cancer, all at the same time. Connect with his life and vision!
The documentary film Fred Ho’s Last Year has just completed a successful festival run, and now you can help us print the academic release DVD’s, view the film, and take home some groundbreaking Fred Ho music in gorgeous CD’s. Your contribution helps the film to introduce Fred Ho to new audiences for decades to come!
And there’s more! A big chunk of this fundraiser will go to bringing Fred Ho’s musicians and collaborators to the Asian American Studies Conference in Chicago, which will allow universities the opportunity to invite the band to their campuses. Fred’s Afro Asian Music Ensemble has been going strong for 35 years, and we need your help to let it grow for another 35 years!

Greetings to all!

I am Amy Denio, a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, improviser and producer. I’ve been creating and collaborating for most of my life. My main instruments are voice, sax, clarinet, accordion, bass and guitar, though I love making music with almost anything ~ heavy metal(s), balloons, theremin, my mother’s gallstones in a glass jar, slapping water in a bathtub or singing in a cistern, making field recordings. Sound is my language.
